In case you haven’t heard of it (where the heck have you been?), Internet TV is well, just like television in your monitor. There are usually websites that offer this service but there also are softwares that will download the videos right into your hard disk so you can play it anytime, even when offline.

• VeohTV Beta

I advise against downloading the software from http://www.veoh.com – they only have the new buggy release. The non-buggy older release can be downloaded here (and just say ok when the program tells you to upgrade, it wouldn’t upgrade you to the buggy version). It does everything from searching and streaming videos from lots of channels, and websites like Veoh, Google and Yahoo! to saving those streams and organizing them neatly in a library. Other features include playlists, importing, “Interact” and of course, full screen. If it weren’t for the website’s frequent crashes, I would say this is the best video-sharing software I’ve ever used. But don’t worry, when veoh.com is acting all buggy, Google and Yahoo! will save the day.

• RealPlayer 11 GOLD

Who needs the incredibly slow YouTube Grabber? This thing’s about a hundred times better at that job. The player comes with a browser plug-in which makes a “Download This Video” button pop-up every time there is a video on the page you are visiting. What’s more, it also offers channels, streaming, downloading and a library. You can download the free version here.

• RealPlayer Alternative

Why am I betraying RealPlayer by introducing a rightfully named alternative? I’m not. I haven’t been using this one yet but it’s got some cool features to check out (like Increase and Decrease Speed which are only available in RealPlayer’s full version). It’s only a player, though – no streaming and downloading. But that’s what makes it simple and lightweight. You can download it here.
